Your Childs Future

It take a village to raise your child.  Get down on their level and become involved in their lives.  Sometimes this is easier said then done.  You have worked all day and sometimes you just want to come home and rest.  That is understandable.  However it is very important to get involved.  The classroom load for a teacher can be heavy and your child will not get everything they from the school.  It is so important for the parents or grandparents to  be active in the learning process.

Here are some ways to do that.

Bath time fun.  Run through some flash cards or read a book to them while they are in the bath. Munchkin Munchkin Bath Letters and Numbers can help them have fun in the bath and learn their numbers and letters.

Have dinner with your kids.  It is said that children are happier and healthier if you make time to sit down for diner.  It is so easy to get into a rut of sitting in front of the TV for dinner.  When you sit in front of the TV, your brain tends to be less mindful of the amount of food you are eating and you run the risk of over eating.  Take this opportunity to sit down at the dinner table and teach your kids with flash cards or multiple choice questions, related to topics that your kids are learning.  You just might learn something as well.

While doing the grocery shopping you can play find the letter or number game.  There are lots of numbers and letters in a store.  Rhyming as you go down the rows at the store is also a good way to involve learning in every day events.  When they get older you can have them find things on your list, like a scavenger hunt.  I have ready made list made up before I go to the store and it is a lot more fun then the boring old shopping list.

Help your children learn. Take what ever time you have to get involved.  You will see a difference in the relationship you have with your kids. It will mean the world to them.

The Blessing of My Son.

So today started well.  Daddy and my oldest are on the road to Alabama and making their way quite well.  Sure do hope they have a little fun in their travels.  The youngest has pajama day at school and it sounds like he is going to have a blast with that.  My middle child Noah really surprised me today.  I have been charged by God to be a mother and to me that means to pray with my children, so I try to pray with each of my children before they go to school.  I didn't know if my kids like it or not but today I know they do. Noah was going out to the bus and he stopped and said "Mom we didn't pray today!"  We said a short prayer before he went to the bus.  My kids and family are truly my biggest blessing.  Thank You God for being so good to me.

Night Time Poetry

If only they would go to sleep but awake they stay and I must weep.  They fight and fight, heavy eyelids every night and when will they see the light?  Just close your eyelids my darling kids before your loving parents blow their lids!

Summer Blessings.

Summer is flying by.  If only we could freeze time on our best days.  If we could bottle the laughter of a child on a lazy summer day and give its essence to a sick friend it could give new life.  I hope you take a moment to catch a few lighting bug and thank God for each precious moment of summer.

School will soon be out and what does that means for me is trying to keep my children stimulated.  It is easy for families to go into the lazily days of summer with just that in mind.  But it is important to make sure your childrens body and mind are not as lazy as those days of summer.  So stimulate those bodies with walks and bike rides and stimulate those minds with historical sites and science experience.  Don’t forget that math by playing math game.  All you can find online so get surfing and don’t forget to move.

A Generation of Farmers.

Spring for this family means planting.  For me it means planting flowers and for my husband and our boys it means getting the crops in on the family farm.  Like so many others who have been raised on a farms it becomes a family tradition passed on proudly from generation to generation to keep the family farm going.
Some family farms more successful then other family farm but all make up the fabric of our nations, rich farming history.  I am happy that my boys get to experience this type of life from both sides of their family.  With my father it is the raising and bailing of hay, that he feeds to his many race horse and beef cattle.  With my father-in-law it is the raising of soy beans and corn to help feed the nation.  Both I feel privileged to have my children be a part of as farmer's sons, farmer's grandsons and farmer's great- grandsons.
